My Best Practices Include:
Confidentiality - Your personal information, financial information, and contact information is NOT shared.
Security - My tax software does not operate in the cloud. I connect to the internet briefly to transmit tax returns and retrieve shared documents. I use a VPN at all times and never utilize open public networks. A secure document portal is used for temporary document storage. Backup storage is off-line.
Expertise - I am Enrolled to Practice before the IRS.
Embracing the Gig Economy:
In my tax practice, I am lucky to serve a highly creative, entrepreneurial, risk-taking, group of people who have managed to survive and thrive in the Gig Economy. These same people have inspired me to continue my own entrepreneurship and taught me the value of pushing boundaries. The beginning of this story began when I quit my day job in summer of 2005. In the succeeding years, my adventures were primarily scientific consulting and world travel. During this time (and throughout my life) I pursued artistic avocations such as playing violin, painting, and weaving. I learned how to live a new kind of life by scaling down living space and daily consumption (no car, two bicycles). I figured out how to invest my savings and live partially from the income it generated. I learned how to minimize tax burden, fund retirement, and share such strategies with my tax clients. While functioning in the Gig Economy requires some happy discipline, it is worth embracing with open eyes and open heart.
